Who We Are

We’re surrounded by the hustle and bustle of campus life at the University of Missouri, Columbia College and Stephens College.

Our name is a reminder of our physical location in downtown Columbia, as well as a reminder of the commandment Jesus gives in Luke 10:27, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself” (NLT). It is in that verse that we’re instructed to uphold the greatest commandment of all – love God, love neighbor.  

The Neighborhood College Ministry helps people grow authentic, lifelong relationships with Jesus and one another.

Question Everything. Love God. Love Neighbor.

We know that following Jesus can be confusing, challenging and downright hard at times. And we know that often when we turn for guidance, we’re left with more questions than answers. We encourage you to ask questions. Wrestle with God for the answers you’re seeking. We want to help you uncover a lasting, personal relationship with Jesus. And it’s often in those moments of questioning that we encounter Jesus in a very real way.

All people, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, race and ability can participate and lead within the Neighborhood.

The Neighborhood is a ministry of Missouri United Methodist Church. The United Methodist Church believes in the full equality of women in decision-making and leadership positions at all levels of the church.
